چکیده

Microbial keratitis is a major cause of corneal opacity and loss of vision worldwide. Ulcerative microbial keratitis remains a leading cause of blindness worldwide. The most common causative organisms are bacteria, although fungi and protists can also cause keratitis. Bacterial keratitis is potentially more devastating ocular infection. The most common bacteria associated with corneal ulcer are Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-negative Staphylococci and Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Phenotypic Identification and Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern of AmpC beta-Lactamase Producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections from a Tertiary Care Hospital of Rawalpindi, Pakistan

Introduction: This study is aimed to compare phenotypic test methods and determine antibiotic susceptibility pattern of AmpC beta-lactamase producing uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in clinical isolates. Method: E. coli and K. pneumoniae were identified by standard microbiological procedures. Screening of AmpC beta-lactamase production was done by using cefoxitin disc (...

Detection of Metallo-Beta-lactamase Production in Rare Carbapenem-Resistant Non-fermentative Gram-Negative Bacilli Isolated in a Tertiary Care Hospital, Visakhapatnam, India

Introduction: Non-fermentative Gram-negative bacilli (NFGNB) are occasionally involved in infectious diseases pathology, but have shown resistance to multiple antibiotics and the capability to gain new resistance factors in the hospital environment. The present study was aimed to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility pattern of rare NFGNB isolated from different clinical samples and the pre...

Molecular detection of Integron genes and pattern of antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains isolated from intensive care unit, Shahid Beheshti Hospital, North of Iran

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most important pathogens that causes nosocomial infections and shows high level of antibiotic resistance. Integrons are one of the transposable elements in bacteria and their role in antibiotic resistance has been well demonstrated. The aim of this study was a molecular characterization of the integron genes and the determination of the resistance or sensiti...
